New Toyota Voxy Ready to Come, Price Will Rise Rp 30-50 Million

The public has been informed about the arrival of the new Toyota Voxy. PT Toyota Astra Motor (TAM) has announced the presence of the new MPV on Thursday (2/17/2022) virtually.

Interestingly, although only present tomorrow, the latest Voxy in some Toyota dealers has been offered for some time. Oto.com tried to ask some Toyota dealers around Jabodetabek and it turned out that the booking tap had been opened.

"The information is already circulating, if there will be a new model. It can even be ordered. Simply with a pre-booking fund of Rp 10 million, it can be one of the first consumers of the latest Voxy," said one toyota dealer salesperson contacted Tuesday (2/15/2022).

In addition, for consumers who are eyeing old models seem to have to bite their fingers. The old model units are currently exhausted in some places and are quite difficult to obtain. Voxy old model is currently recorded at around Rp 510 million.

Regarding the price of the new model, Toyota salespeople revealed that later it will get a significant increase. This is because the new model brings updates such as advanced safety features as well as design changes.

"The price increase is likely to reach Rp 30 million to Rp 50 million. The addition is quite significant because in Indonesia the Voxy update has long been anticipated," said one toyota salesperson.

What to expect from this latest MPV? The latest Voxy design now has a super-large grille of five horizontal blades in front. The edges are wrapped in a touch of chrome with the shape of the lamp house plus a squinting-style DRL that makes the look of this MPV more modern. About the price, in Japan Voxy is offered at a price of 3,090,000 yen or around Rp 389 million to 3,960,000 yen or around Rp 498 million. In Indonesia, Voxy is currently offered in one variant with a 2.O engine and automatic transmission at a price of Rp 510,850,000.

The new Voxy has a dimension size of 4,695 mm in length, less than the previous length of 4,710 mm. The width is now 1,730 mm from the previous 1,735 mm, the height is now 1,925 mm from the previous 1,895 mm. Judging by the data on paper, Voxy changes slightly in dimension. The wheelbase remains the same at 2,850 mm. The legs use a 17-inch dual tone rim with a 205/55 tire profile. The shock damping technology is entrusted to the McPherson Strut type at the front plus the torsion beam at the rear.

Unlike in Japan, the engine that will be used is likely a conventional engine and it is less likely that the hybrid version will arrive in the country. The naturally aspirated Dynamic Force M20A-FKS 2.0L four-cylinder DOHC engine delivers 170 PS of power at 6,600 rpm and a peak torque of 202 Nm at 4,900 rpm.

The transmission is paired with a Direct-Shift CVT and although there is an AWD model it looks like for the Indonesian market it will come with a front drive. When compared to the old engine, the 3ZR-FAE four-cylinder DOHC 1,987 cc engine only produces 152 ps of power at 6,100 rpm and 193 Nm of torque at 3,800 rpm. The transmission still uses conventional automatics.

Move on to its safety features. The latest Voxy comes with Toyota Safety Sense technology including Proactive Driving Assist technology. This technology has the ability to intervene in steering and deceleration. The goal is to prevent the car from getting too close to objects in front of it such as pedestrians, cyclists and cars that stop on the side of the road so that it can anticipate objects that have the potential to move suddenly.

Pre-collision features are also increasingly sophisticated. This feature can detect vehicles or motorists at intersections, can detect vehicles coming from the opposite direction when the car enters the intersection area. These features include low speed acceleration control, parking support brakes, emergency steering assist, lane change assist, front cross traffic alert and many others. It is likely that the T Intouch feature will also be present on this latest model.

As for what the details are, we'll see tomorrow. Voxy includes MPV which is quite in demand sales in the medium MPV segment with a record during 2021 as many as 1,428 units and it is expected that the presence of new models will further increase the popularity of this medium MPV in Indonesia.

Disrupting Car Production Activities, Honda Indonesia Learns Chip Localization Opportunities

The semiconductor chip crisis is becoming a major problem for the global automotive industry.

In the domestic market, PT Honda Prospect Motor (HPM) said that the scarcity of semiconductors has an impact on production activities so that product fulfillment in consumers is hampered, even consumers must indent for up to 3 months for all new BR-V Prestige Sensing variants.

Public Relations & Digital Manager of PT HPM Yulian Karfili explained that the scarcity of semiconductor chips forced companies to prioritize models that have the highest demand in the market. Which means that some models from Honda must be thickened production activities.

"So the strategy is to give production priority to models whose demand is already high. Inevitably, whatever we get (chip components) we produce first to maintain the stock of supply and demand levels to continue to be balanced," said Arfi, his nickname in a virtual talk on Tuesday (15/2).

Honda Brio which is the backbone of HPM sales is most prioritized production. Both facilities of Honda's assembly plant are now assigned to produce the maximum of the car.

While the most impacted model is the Low MPV Honda Mobilio, the unit in January 2022 yesterday was not even produced at all. However, next month the car is confirmed to enter the production kitchen again.

"What we are doing is having to prioritize production for models that are already high demand, one of which is Honda Brio. Brio demand is always high from consumers, currently every component comes we will prioritize first for Brio," he said.

Semiconductor Chip Localization

The strategy that HPM may pursue related to this scarcity, according to Arfi, is to study the opportunities of localization of semiconductor chips. That way, it no longer relies on the importation of components.

"There is a discourse on how we don't depend on importation. It's also one of the things we're learning, how the chip can be localized. Then how in the end when this problem is already running, production management is one of the most important," he said.

Efforts made by HPM in order to supply product demand in the market is to find another chip supplier partner. He said, HPM will continue to maximize so that semiconductor problems do not drag on.

"The challenge for automotive itself is how we can maintain the supply of chips for our production. So we have to have options, we used to supply from a-b, now we have to supply from a, b, c, until d takes from elsewhere."

Chip manufacturers, arfi continued, are currently prioritizing chip fulfillment in electronic products such as smartphones and laptops. No wonder, in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic these two goods are indeed flooded orders.

"Now it's arguably chip grabs, so electronics like mobile phones, laptops, and automotive need chips. Now back again how chip manufacturers are meeting all that demand. Automatic electronic components such as mobile phones and laptops are a priority for them, because many people have to do activities with virtual," he concluded.

Honda HR-V launch pulls back due to surge in Covid-19 cases

It's no secret that the all-new Honda HR-V or its latest generation will launch in Indonesia. Various signals and leaks have been displayed on social media.

Most obviously, the latest HR-V form without camouflage stickers is undergoing filming in the PIK area, North Jakarta not long ago.

In fact, some honda dealer networks have started to plug the gas by opening the indent tap of the SUV. For example, Honda salespeople in the Jakarta area who installed booking fees from the latest HR-V at Rp10 million.

"It's true that there will be a new model. We have also opened reservations for those who are interested in getting this latest model. It's the same shape as in Thailand. For other specifications have not been notified," said the salesperson, some time ago.

Leaked about the launch time of the salesperson at that time, the latest HR-V will be released in February or most likely take advantage of the Indonesia International Motor Show (IIMS) 2022. But as is known, IIMS was officially postponed and is scheduled to take place at the end of March 2022 due to consideration of COVID-19 numbers.

So how is the response from PT Honda Prospect Motor (HPM) regarding the launch of the latest HRV- Answering this Public Relations & Digital Manager of PT HPM Yulian Karfili did not deny that all new HR-V will soon come to the country, but it is considering the condition of COVID-19 which is increasing.

Just wait, hopefully after this pandemic condition wave 3 quickly passed. Activity has started to run better, then the market improves and if conditions are conducive we will definitely launch a new product as soon as possible," said the man who is familiarly called Arfi, in a virtual discussion on Tuesday (15/2/2022).

The current trend, continued Arfi, the needs and interest of consumers in SUV cars are increasing in the Indonesian market. Therefore, the planned launch of a new car this year will target SUV-type products.

"The launch of the car depends on market conditions. We see, when the right time in accordance with consumer demand, surely we will introduce a new product. It just looks like yes, so just wait," he concluded.

Regarding when the exact moment of launch of the Honda HR-V he was reluctant to answer further. But it feels like we can guess from hpm strategy that often brings surprises at automotive shows. Yes, IIMS March could be the birthplace for the latest HR-V.

Leaked Specifications and Features of the Latest HR-V

The news of the presence of the latest generation Honda HR-V has actually been registered on njkb samsat DKI Jakarta data. This compact SUV is registered with 4 variants, interestingly all options there are no manual transmission options, including S CVT, E CVT, SE CVT, and RS CVT Honda Sensing. So chances are this variant will soon be sold by HPM.

When referring to the latest HR-V models in the Thai market, the car is equipped with hybrid technology or what the manufacturer refers to as Intelligent Multi Mode Drive Hybrid (i-MMD). The technology is mated in parallel to the Atkinson cycle 1,500 cc DOHC i-VTEC gasoline engine plus an electric motor.

The utput produced in a conventional engine state works itself capable of spewing a maximum power of 105 horsepower at 6,000-6,400 rpm and a peak torque of 127 Nm at 4,500-5,000 rpm. Meanwhile, when combined with an electric motor is able to produce power up to 131 horsepower and torque reaches 253 Nm.

As for sensing's active safety features, it is likely that the all-new Honda HR-V will be equipped with similar technology in other Honda products in the Indonesian market. Like this about:

  • Adaptive Cruise Control
  • Road Departure Mitigation System
  • Lead-Car Departure Notification
  • Lane Keeping Assist System

Mitsubishi Achieves Positive Results Early In The Year, Xpander becomes a Hero

The beginning of the year became a place of achievement in terms of sales by some brand holders.

Although the conditions of the beginning of the year changed with the presence of a new PPnBM scheme, this did not decrease the sales demand of each brand.

One of them is PT Mitsubishi Motors Krama Yudha Sales Indonesia (MMKSI) which announced their positive achievements in retail sales during January 2022. At the beginning of the year, MMKSI managed to record a total of 10,676 units and this achievement increased by 14.8 percent for its market share.

Tetsuhiro Tsuchida, Director of Sales &Marketing Division of PT MMKSI revealed that sales in early 2022 are the foundation and motivation for sales performance in the months ahead. Mitsubishi as a leading automotive brand, does not want to miss out on continuing to contribute to economic growth in Indonesia, especially in the automotive field.

"We will never tire of bringing innovation and excellence to our customers. The beginning of this positive year is a good momentum for us in presenting interesting programs that are certainly one form of our appreciation for Indonesian consumers," said Tetsuhiro in his statement, Wednesday (2/16/2022).

During January 2022, Mitsubishi passenger vehicles contributed sales figures of 7,549 units while for the light commercial vehicle segment, Mitsubishi managed to record sales of 3,127 units. Xpander models, including the Xpander Cross, are again the backbone of Mitsubishi's sales. The MPV dominated MMKSI sales by 55.5 percent and the L300 contributed nearly 21 percent and Pajero Sport at 15.2 percent to MMKSI's total sales.

In total overall market in Indonesia, Xpander models including Xpander Cross, managed to get 33.4 percent market share of small MPV vehicles. This means that a total of 5,925 units have been sold for the MPV model.

Pajero Sport model which is in the medium suv segment of 2,500 cc with 4x2 and 4x4 models, managed to get a market share of 36.3 percent. This means a total sales of 1,622 units.

The commercial vehicle segment is the L300. This legendary model maintains its position in the 4x2 small pick-up segment with a market share of 66.3 percent or 2,235 units sold. Similarly, Mitsubishi Triton models still maintain their position in the 4x4 pick-up segment with a market share of 75.5 percent or sold as many as 878 units.

This achievement in early 2022 continues the positive results last year. Throughout 2021, MMKSI managed to achieve sales with a total of 104,407 units and increase market share to 13.2 percent. This achievement increased 90.6 percent compared to the same period in 2020 which reached sales of almost 50,000 units.

This success is also due to the presence of product updates by Mitsubishi. Last year Mitsubishi presented the New Pajero Sport, Xpander Rockford Fosgate Black Edition, Xpander Cross Rockford Fosgate Black Edition, as well as New Xpander and New Xpander Cross. This year it is expected that there will be an update on its vehicle models to further meet consumer expectations throughout the country.

In addition to its rare condition, the price offered is also estimated at up to Rp. 100 million. The owner of Genesis Cars Indonesia, who did not want to be named, told about the special features of the Honda NSR 80 HC-06.

"Yes, it's rare to have one, it's a Japanese limited build up too," said Mr. I when contacted by coil (9/2).

Its restored status also makes the value of the Honda NSR 80 HC-06 motorbike even higher, the motorbike has been restored and several components have been updated.

"Yes, it has a full restore, the motor is like new. Yesterday the paint was restored but the striping was still all original, then the carburetor was also replaced so the power is better, "he concluded.

Other parts such as the exhaust and the inside of the engine have also been replaced with new spare parts.

"If the engine spare parts are all new, yes, the motorbike is really good, for the modification part, I used the original Yokota exhaust from Japan yesterday, imported it myself, it was around Rp. 6.8 million," he explained.

According to Mr.I, as written at the beginning, another thing that makes the condition of the motorbike even more special is its very rare status.

"I've heard it said that there weren't 10 units in Indonesia. Yesterday, talking to the previous owner, he confirmed that it didn't reach 10 units," he explained.

Regarding the price, which is in the hundreds of millions, Mr. I said that the target was indeed aimed at motorcycle collectors.

"If a motorbike like this is a hobby, yes, so there are more serious enthusiasts, just make a collection," he said.

View of Honda NSR 80 HC-06

Let's try to briefly review the Honda NSR 80 HC-06, first from the overall design. The first impression, all the typical box motorcycle output of the 90s.

This is most visible from the box-shaped headlamp design with opaque mica made of glass, then the tank, and the rear bonet design.

The fairing design also looks stiff with sharp lines playing, the turn signal model is made separately, at the top of the fairing there is a windshield that is not too big.

The warning sticker in Japanese on the left side of the windshield seems to be authentic evidence that this motorbike came directly from the land of the rising sun.

The color combination game of red and white with a touch of other colors such as blue and green makes the impression of a classic sport fairing motorbike even more thick on this motorbike.

The seat is also a single seat model with a small booster to support the base of the rider's back, enters the back of the stop lamp design and the turn signal is fairly simple with a boxy design.

Valentino Rossi's brother is the fastest in the second day of the Mandalika MotoGP Pre-season Test

Luca Marini closed the results of the second day of the MotoGP pre-season test at the Mandalika Circuit, Saturday (12/2/2022).

The Mooney VR46 Ducati racer broke the time dominance of Brad Binder from Red Bull KTM who was always the fastest in several sessions. Marini recorded a time of 1 minute 31,280 seconds.

The first day of the pre-season test brought the name Pol Espargaro from the Repsol Honda team with a time of 1 minute 32.466 seconds. This record managed to surpass the record of the WSBK rider from PATA Yamaha Toprak Ratzgatlioglu who recorded a time of 1 minute 32.877 seconds. Pol's record time became a reference for other racers to try to record the best time at the new Mandalika circuit.

This target is proven by the faster time records made by the racers. Fabio Quartararo, the 2021 world champion, from the Monster Yamaha team managed to break through 1 minute 31 seconds during the first hour of the test on the second day. The same time record was also made by Alex Rins from the Suzuki Ecstar team. The condition of the track which is fairly humid in the morning makes the time achievement not maximal.

The racers then hit the gas again as the sun shone on Lombok. This makes the confidence of the riders increase and the ability to grip the tires which became the main issue on the first day due to the dirty muddy circuit conditions. If the hot weather continues during the second day, it is possible that the racers will be able to record a break time of 1 minute 29 seconds.

Several drivers were also reported to have fallen while trying to break the time limit faster. Call it Jorge Martin from Pramac Ducati, Joan Mir who is a teammate of Rins and Andrea Dovizioso from WithU RNF Yamaha.

MotoGP Fabio Quartararo

Unfortunately, Mandalika's weather changed again in the middle of the day. Black clouds have been seen hanging over the circuit since 2 o'clock local time which makes many teams worried about the condition of the track being wet and dirty again.

In the last session a new change occurred. Marini burst into the top row after in the last session rose about 10 positions from the achievements in the previous session. Marini's position, 24 years old, is followed by Marc Marquez from Honda and Maverick Vinales from the Aprilia Racing team. Even though there was a new name, the record time had not penetrated 1 minute 29 seconds.

Some drivers are more confident opening the acceleration lever and are getting used to the layout of this circuit. This makes the third day of the pre-season test, Sunday (13/2/2022) even more exciting to look forward to.

First Day Achievements

Valentino Rossi's brother is the fastest in the second day of the Mandalika MotoGP Pre-season Test

The results of the first day were quite promising for Pol Espargaro. The Honda rider was the fastest and was pleased with his performance. He also felt that he could increase his speed in the next test.

"It's important to start well, but this is just the beginning. For sure we are happy with the result and the bike is doing well here. It's fast, fast in one lap and in race pace but this is just the beginning. The times will be much better in the next tests ," said Pol, quoted from Crash.net, Saturday (12/2/2022).

Jack Miller from Ducati also revealed the progress made in the first day of testing. The Australian racer said he was pleased with the advancement of electronic devices to overcome the lack of grip on the tires on a wet track.

"I feel we made a big step with the electronics today, due to the lack of grip. I think we will also face these conditions in Qatar with the dust. It was a very important day for us. It was nice to have corners in 5th and 6th and the number of run-offs. which is spacious, safe like home and a lot of fun. It doesn't look live on TV but turns 7 blind spots, sending the bike there is really fun," said Miller.

About Track Conditions

On the second day, the condition of the track is still a major concern. This is after the track conditions on the first day that disappointed many parties. Like in WSBK, Mandalika's weather conditions often change quickly from heat to heavy rain which makes it quite difficult for the motorbike to prepare to hit the track.

The first day the drivers cleaned the dusty track voluntarily. This is seen as a collaboration between MotoGP riders to stay in action on the first day of testing rather than to cover up the poor preparation of the circuit which is again the question, is the Mandalika Circuit really ready to carry out an international event like MotoGP next March?

The circuit manager has tried to clean the track with an engine but to no avail. A meeting to discuss track conditions was held and finally the riders were asked to complete about 20 laps to clean the track by riding a motorbike at 3 pm.

"We had a meeting to decide whether to try to clean the track with an engine, or ride a motorbike," said Dovizioso.

"Every rider doesn't really want to race because I came out before the meeting and I can't explain how bad it was. But they tried to clear before I came out, at Turns 1 and 2, and I couldn't see the difference between those corners and the others," added Dovi.

Rainy Season, Don't Underestimate Your Car Tire Care

The rainy season has begun to greet most parts of Indonesia. The intensity ranges from low to dense which makes driving in these conditions require extra attention when driving. Driving a vehicle when it rains is different from hot conditions. It takes extra concentration.

One of the factors that play an important role in driving safety in the rain is the condition of the tires. As part of the vehicle that is in contact with the asphalt surface, vehicle owners are obliged to pay attention to the condition of the tires during the rainy season. The vital role of tires includes supporting the weight of the car, controlling the direction of the car on the road and dampening the vibrations received along with the suspension.

Rainy Season, Don't Underestimate Your Car Tire Care
Rainy Season, Don't Underestimate Your Car Tire Care

The type of vehicle that is widely used in Indonesia is the low MPV. Specifically, vehicles such as the Avanza, which has a large carrying capacity, make attention to the condition of the tires requiring extra attention. Moreover, most Avanza owners are first time buyers of four-wheeled vehicles, this requires separate education in tire care.

Well, here are the steps for tire maintenance that need to be done:

1. Check Tire Air Pressure

This is the easiest step. Check tire pressure at least once a week. Tire air pressure in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations ensures that the tread of the car's tires gets optimal grip or treads on the asphalt in the rainy season. Can't be less or more. The right grip makes car tires able to carry out their duties well on slippery roads or waterlogged due to rain.

2. Check Tire Tread

Steps to check the tire tread can be done together with checking the tire air pressure. The depth of the tire tread is indicated by a bulge in the tire groove called the Tread Wear Indicator (TWI). The owner must replace the tire when the mark is parallel to the tread height. The location of the TWI at several points on the tire is an illustration of the level of tire wear. If it is uneven, there may be a problem in the suspension or steering sector.

3. Tire Wall Inspection

Check the tire walls for potential damage such as rips or lumps. There is no tolerance, car tires whose walls are damaged must be replaced with new ones immediately. Usually car tires bulge due to insufficient air pressure and then hit hard objects such as rocks, pavement, and holes so that the tire wall bends causing the thread on the side of the tire to break.

4. Beware of Car Rims

The task of the rim is quite heavy because it supports the performance of car tires. If a problem is detected such as a cracked rim lip, it is almost certain that the car tire has been under very heavy pressure and has the potential to be damaged. A damaged rim also changes the balance of the tire, even if it is too heavy to have to replace the car rim.

5. Car Tire Rotation

Rotation allows all tires to 'feel' the same task so that the tire wear rate is even. In particular, there is a tendency for the front tread to wear out faster because it holds the greatest task when the car is moving. In low MPVs such as the Avanza, the tire rotation process also involves the spare tire because it is the same size as the standard tire. The owner can easily rotate the tires during regular service every 6 months at the Auto2000 repair shop.

6. Spooring and Balancing

Spooring restores the geometry of the entire tire to match the manufacturer's requirements and ensures the car's legs, both suspension and steering, work properly. While balancing balances the four wheels so that they can rotate properly without vibrations that reduce driving comfort. This task should be left to an authorized workshop technician who has modern and complete spooring-balancing facilities.

"Although known to be reliable and tough, it doesn't mean you can ignore Avanza tire maintenance when entering the rainy season. Do a light inspection and make sure the tires are in top condition. For rotation and spooring-balancing, it can be submitted to the Auto2000 workshop staff so that the results are optimal and maintained. Book immediately regular service and take advantage of the Toyota Flexy Service Promo for your favorite Avanza through Auto2000 Digiroom," explained Nur Imansyah Tara, Aftersales Business Division Head Auto2000, in his statement.

One of the things that can be used for tire maintenance is regular service at an authorized repair shop. Auto2000 offers Brake Service Packages starting from IDR 226 thousand, Tune Up Packages starting from IDR 336 thousand, AC Service Packages starting from IDR 215 thousand, and Wiper Set + Wiper Fluid Packages starting from IDR 118 thousand.
