Brabus 1300 R, Hypernaked Collaboration with KTM Only 154 Units in the World

 Brabus, a high-performance automotive tuner from Germany penetrated the world of motorcycles for the first time. 

He was not alone, but worked with KTM to convert the 1290 Super Duke R Evo into a Hypernaked named Brabus 1300 R. This model was produced on a limited basis, only 154 units worldwide.

The project has been publicly known since December 2021. At that time, it was only a limited analysis that was dug up by one of the British media. Starting from the document submitted to the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) under the trademark Brabus 1300 R. And finally Friday (11/2) last week he was officially released.

Brabus 1300 R

As expected from the approval document, the original brabus 1300 R type is based on the KTM 1290 Super Duke R Evo. The engine is identical, powered by 180 PS (177 bhp) and 103 pound-feet (179 Nm) of torque. Even so the Brabus version has a new air intake on both sides of the tank, the exhaust piled up with a layer of black ceramic to reflect some of the designs used on cars.

The frame, a 4.2-gallon steel fuel tank, and one-sided swing arms, all share with the Super Duke R. Subframe, cowl, side intakes are made of carbon. Footpeg can be adjusted into 12 positions and adjustable levers are just a few typical parts on the 1300 R. The wheels are a custom-made Monoblock Z nine-bar design. In accordance with the character commonly used in many cars made by Brabus.

The materials and motifs of the seats also take inspiration from the car. Available in red and black. Coated in the best quality leather, just like the seats in the Mercedes Brabus. On top of the tank is another carbon panel, carrying a numbered badge for each unit. The rearview position of the bar end model can be adjusted and installed three-clamp billet alloy double clamps.

Brabus 1300 R

The visual difference with the Super Duke R Evo is the nose. The carbon cover over the round headlights borrows from Husqvarna products and is decorated with other Brabus badges. It was flanked by a carbon air intake emerging from the sides of the tank, giving it a very different look from the Super Duke R. While the handlebars are low-profile and manageable in position.

Unlike the Super Duke R Evo, the TFT panel in the cockpit area has the hallmarks of Brabus. He got a new splash screen at the start-up to show the Brabus logo. Riders can also choose suspension mode, engine, driving mode, and other settings from here. For other electronic devices there are traction control, engine-brake control, cruise control, switchable Supermoto ABS, keyless start, self-canceling turn signals, tire pressure monitors and various driving modes (Rain, Street, Sport, Track, and Performance).

Brabus 1300 R also wears a semi-active WP Apex SAT suspension with Suspension Pro feature. Able to add the ability to control the rider's altitude from the TFT dashboard, choosing low, standard, or high settings. The system also compensates for the load, automatically adjusting the rear preload to return to the correct height after the weight is added.

Suspension Pro also has extra suspension settings, with Track, Auto, and Advanced modes. Advanced offers eight attenuation stages for each end, all controlled by the rider via the dashboard.

Brabus 1300 R is produced on a limited basis, only 154 units. Each of the 77 units in the magma red color choice and signature black. Why the number 77? In 1977, Brabus was officially founded as a tuning company focused on Mercedes cars. The collaboration with KTM marks the first time a German tuner has applied his customization skills to a motorcycle.

Brabus 1300 R

Brabus 1300 R is currently sold out. This is KTM's third achievement in the limited edition motorcycle arena. Previously the Austrian company offered track-only RC 8C and 1290 Super Duke RR engines. Both carry very expensive price tags. The 1290 Super Duke RR sold 500 units in just 48 minutes. The 100 RC 8C was grounded less than five minutes after the order book opened.

Preorder Brabus 1300 R is already sold out. But those who want to have it don't have to worry. It provides a waiting list exclusively through KTM's online pre-order portal. Then prospective consumers are asked to pay a down payment of 3000 Euros (RP 48 million). Regarding the price, Brabus 1300 R is priced at € 51 466.65 or Rp 833 million.
