Jakarta Auto Week (JAW) 2022 presents several new cars. Kia brings the latest Carens. The exhibition, which took place at the Jakarta Convention Center (JCC), Senayan, Jakarta, from March 12 to March 20, 2022, was used as the launch site for the MPV (Multi Purpose Vehicle) for the seven-passenger family.
"We are introducing Kia Carens in Indonesia to present the latest segment and benchmark for a modern seven-passenger family MPV with a sporty appearance, spacious cabin space and various high-tech features," said Andrew Nasuri, President Director of PT Kreta Indo Arta in a statement, Thursday. Kia is still bringing Carens with introductory status at the JAW 2022 exhibition. We hope this will be the right opportunity to show Kia's commitment in Indonesia by presenting new products for the people of the country. Andrew believes Kia Carens can provide a special experience for modern families in their daily activities.
Regarding the exterior design, Carens comes with a dynamic design and a few touches of sporty access like an SUV (Sport Utility Vehicle). The hallmark of the Tiger Nose is a sign that it is a modern Kia product. The sides reveal a thick SUV-like profile thanks to the A-pillars pulled back with a straight roofline. The lighting system already uses LEDs with lights embedded with the Daytime running light (DRL) feature. The taillights come with a combination design based on The Star Map lighting concept.
Entering the interior, Kia presents the Joy for Reason design concept. The interior comes with a warm and comfortable impression. The cabin features multiple storage locations as well as cooling cup holders in the center console for front and second row passengers.

Regarding accommodation, Carens comes with three rows of comfortable seating for seven passengers. The second row of benches can be easily folded electrically with one touch. In terms of relief, Carens provides ample head and legroom for its passengers.
Comfort in the cabin is increased by the presence of ambient light that can display 64 colors, a sunroof, and safety features of six airbags throughout the cabin. The entertainment comes from a 10.25-inch touchscreen head unit with Apple Carplay and Android Auto connectivity capabilities as well as an 8-speaker Bose audio system. There's still a ventilated seat as well as a wireless charging system and a few Type-C charging ports in places.
Kia Carens is offered with two engine options. First, the Smartstream 1.4 T-GDI petrol engine that produces 140 ps of power at 6,000 rpm and 242 Nm of torque from 1,500 rpm to 3,200 rpm. This engine is paired with a 7-speed DCT transmission to drive the front wheels.
Another option is the 1.5 CRDi VGT diesel engine that produces 115 ps of power at 4,000 rpm and 250 Nm of torque at 1,500 to 2,750 rpm. This engine is paired with a six-speed automatic transmission that distributes power to the front wheels.
Kia Indonesia offers Carens with a 5 year warranty without mileage limitation for the best ownership comfort for potential customers. In addition to the Carens, Kia is bringing along the Grand Carnival, Sonet Dynamic, Seltos EXP and one other future vehicle model at JAW 2022.
