Toyota Fortuner with Hybrid Touch is being Prepared

 Toyota continues to strive to bring electrified vehicles to its models. Although we haven't seen a product with a pure battery, the approach with hybrid technology is an option.

The next question comes. What about the diesel engine which is also one of Toyota's consumer favorites? So far, the diesel engine approach has been carried out on the fuel side which is claimed to be environmentally friendly, namely biodiesel and emission regulations. There is no new technology presented by Toyota in this diesel segment.

Little by little the question was answered. At least based on the information at a glance. Quoted from Headlightmag.com, the Toyota manufacturer in Thailand plans to present a diesel engine with a hybrid technology option in 2023. The technology chosen is a mild hybrid, which was originally estimated two years ago.

It is said that the third generation Fortuner will come with the new TNGA-F platform. This is also the basis for saying this new technology on the Fortuner allows the addition of mild hybrid technology. This will be the first time for Toyota to bring hybrid technology to diesel engines in SUV products on the market.

Furthermore, this hybrid technology will be paired with a choice of 2.8L 1GD 4 cylinder engine which is also present this year in Indonesia. The installation of this mild hybrid technology will use an alternator to supply power. Usually present when the vehicle is about to move, as well as acceleration.

The presence of this hybrid technology will reduce lubricant consumption, and reduce exhaust emissions. The battery will be the power to drive the AC components. This system also allows the engine to stop working for a moment which certainly affects efficiency and power.

Then, what is the right price for the variant with this hybrid technology? Many assume it should be below the price of the top variant of the Legender. Currently, the variant is priced at 1.7 million to 1.8 million Thai Baht, or around Rp. 750 million to Rp. 784 million.

How about Indonesia? Toyota itself has not been seen to provide new information about their popular SUV. Indeed, Fortuner's development has followed the conditions in Thailand as the largest SUV market in Southeast Asia.

Toyota Indonesia has just shown the Innova EV concept vehicle, aka pure battery powered some time ago. This product is suitable for Indonesia's largest market, namely family vehicles, MPVs with large capacities.

Actually echo the presence of Toyota's new hybrid product which was already present several years ago. Toyota Indonesia currently offers electrification features in the form of a hybrid. There are four models offered, namely the New Camry Hybrid, New C-HR Hybrid, New Corolla Cross Hybrid and Corolla Altis Hybrid. The price tag starts from IDR 519 million to IDR 813 million.
